Four simple goals (before 2012)

Last year the Beautiful Mess blog and it's lovely creator Elsie challenged readers to pick four, activity-oriented goals to brighten their lives. Almost a full year later, I'm trying out the challenge for myself.

1) Carry a small notebook for story ideas at all times. I've lost some great ideas for my November novel already, those little wisps of tale that are permanently out my reach no matter how hard I try to grasp them. I usually think, "oh, I'll wait until I get to my journal (an enormous five subject notebook) and write them down then". We know what happens after that.

2) Start mornings with fruit. Fruit and I have an endless love/hate struggle, but mornings are the time for me to get reacquainted with nature's candy. Also, stock simple, healthy snacks.I wanted to get into the edamame scene, find good yogurt and learn to like popcorn as a snack. Still looking for other ideas as my normal go-to snacks are usually cheese-related.

3) Work on creating an inspirational space in which to live. For the first time I have a house and the blank slate needs to become us.

4) Try to write every day. I'm in the middle of NaNo Summer Camp right now, which means I'm writing a LOT every day, but when I'm not under some sort of insane word count driven time crunch, I would like to write more frequently. I need to stop it with the schizophrenic writing habits. It's not helping anyone.

Okay, I've been collecting way too many images on the desktop of my computer and it's time to share what's been inspiring me lately. (Horrible warning note: I have no clue where all of these came from. If you own the rights, awesome. Good work. I'm not profiting or anything from any of this, I just think they're cool.)

Participating in this by reading this. Not sure how I feel about it yet. Cleopatra as a vampire? Really? I swear I'm not this sort of girl.

My cat isn't eating and I'm worried about him. My husband is on the road right now and I'm trying not to worry about him. We're going house hunting in Wisconsin starting tomorrow... and I'm trying not to worry about that.

I'm ready for adventures and scared to death of them at the same time. It's time, its time; it isn't time.

And this is on the horizon. Oh my.
